Today, the energy sector is being reshaped not only by installed capacity, but also by digitalization, sustainability, and a data-driven management approach. ODAŞ continues its operations with a total of 21 subsidiaries—two of which are publicly listed—10 facilities, and 1,077 employees. While the company’s multi-sector structure forms the foundation of its sustainable growth, the synergy it creates across different fields strengthens its operational resilience.
One of the company’s prominent investments in energy generation, the Çan2 Thermal Power Plant, stands out as one of the few private sector projects operating on domestic lignite coal. Completed in just three years and recognized among Europe’s largest relocation projects, the plant complies with environmental standards through advanced flue gas treatment systems and achieved 1.6 million MWh of production in 2025. Meanwhile, the natural gas power plant established in Uzbekistan meets approximately 35% of the region’s electricity demand, reinforcing ODAŞ’s international growth vision.
ODAŞ COO Caner Demirayak summarizes the company’s transformation approach as follows: “Energy companies are no longer merely entities that generate power; they have become drivers of technological transformation. As ODAŞ, we are an active part of this transformation. The diversification we have established across energy, mining, and tourism forms the foundation of both our financial and operational efficiency. We view our technology investments not as a cost, but as a strategic lever that enhances our competitiveness. Beyond generating data, we focus on building systems that interpret and create value from that data.” In line with this approach, ODAŞ is digitalizing its operations end-to-end through cloud-based infrastructures, IoT systems, and artificial intelligence applications. The aim is to achieve more efficient production, more accurate decision-making mechanisms, and stronger operational resilience. As part of the digitalization project carried out with Vodafone, our data communication infrastructure, data centers, and cloud systems have been completely restructured end-to-end. Thanks to this transformation, our operations have become faster, more secure, and seamlessly manageable across different locations. While the established infrastructure provides a strong foundation for data analytics and AI applications, AI-powered vehicle tracking systems used in field operations significantly increase efficiency, particularly in mining sites. On the mining side, the company stands out with its production of strategic metals and its circular economy approach. As Türkiye’s only vertically integrated antimony trioxide producer, ODAŞ has produced more than 5,000 tons of antimony trioxide between 2016 and 2025. This area holds critical importance, particularly for battery technologies and the defense industry, and represents one of ODAŞ’s strategic growth areas. By bringing fly ash and by-products generated at the Çan2 Thermal Power Plant into the economy, both environmental impact is reduced and added value is created. Export activities carried out since 2020 have generated over USD 14 million in revenue, highlighting a tangible outcome of this approach.
