A Year of Impact with ODAŞ People Volunteers

While ODAŞ continues to make a difference with impactful projects in the energy, mining, and tourism sectors, it also stands out for meaningful social responsibility projects aligned with its corporate values and vision. Through its collaborations with important NGOs committed to fostering a culture of solidarity and addressing societal challenges, ODAŞ reached various segments of society with 2,709 volunteer hours in 2024.

To support the culture of of constant preparedness for disasters, ODAŞ’s 47 volunteers at the Çan2 Thermal Power Plant have been receiving technical training on search and rescue from AFAD throughout the year.ODAŞ, which encourages its employees to participate in social projects,, strengthens social solidarity and successfully reaches various segments of society through collaborations and volunteer initiatives carried out with NGOs such as KAÇUV, TEGV, and AFAD.

ODAŞ People Volunteers Program: Active Participation in Social Responsibility Projects
Launched by ODAŞ in 2023, the ODAŞ People Volunteers Program, a comprehensive volunteering initiative that aims to produce solutions to various social problems with social responsibility awareness, focuses on strengthening the volunteering culture and enables employees to take part in projects that benefit the society. In addition to creating social awareness, the ODAŞ People Volunteers Program offers diversity by allowing employees to actively engage in social projects aligned with their skills and personal interests.

As part of the program, ODAŞ People Volunteers collaborate with many NGOs, including the TOHUM Autism Foundation,  Spinal Cord Paralytics Association of Turkey, KAÇUV, TEMA, TEGV, AFAD, and KEDV, actively contributing to educational, environmental, and community-focused initiatives.

2,709 Volunteering Hours  with 6 Different NGOs in 2024
Through activities organised under the ODAŞ People Volunteers Program, significant social benefits were realised throughout the year. During an event held at the Çan2 Thermal Power Plant, KAÇUV’s Hope Café achieved its highest-ever donation amount. Activities conducted at both the headquarters and the Çan2 Thermal Power Plant supported the treatment expenses of approximately 87 children under KAÇUV’s care.

At the 45th Istanbul Marathon, 11 volunteers ran for the TOHUM Autism Foundation, raising donations that marked the foundation’s highest individual contribution level in its history. At the 46th Istanbul Marathon in 2024, s6 volunteers collected donations for KAÇUV.

TEMA's Become a Water Volunteer survey was announced in order to instil water conservation awareness in volunteers, and simultaneously, glass canteens were distributed in offices to reduce the consumption of plastic bottles. Additionally, on April 23, 40 volunteers gathered and delivered three boxes of toys to KEDV Kindergarten in Kahramanmaraş to bring hope to children affected by the earthquake.In addition, as part of the Book Donation Project, was carried out to donate books to the Village Life Center opened in the Çan district of Çanakkale, where the Çan2 Thermal Power Plant is located. Along with volunteers, approximately 100 books were delivered to the library for young people to read.

Promoting a culture of continuous readiness for disaster awareness
During the major earthquake on February 6, a team of 100-person volunteer miners  from ODAŞ was on the field  to rescue citizens trapped under the rubble. The importance of fast, effective, and conscious intervention during disaster periods was once again emphasized. To be more prepared for future disasters, a Search and Rescue Team was established at the Çan2 Thermal Power Plant, and 47 volunteers received a total of 80 hours of training and participated in the AFAD accreditation process. ODAŞ's approach of constant preparedness aims to enhance the community’s resilience to disasters.

We Emphasise Diversity and Inclusion in Volunteering Projects
In evaluations of ODAŞ’s volunteering and social responsibility projects, Yasemin Aydınlar, Corporate Communications Manager of ODAŞ, stated, "When planning our projects, we ensure diversity and inclusiveness  so that our employees can volunteer according to their skills. In this context, in 2024, we implemented 12 different projects. By achieving a total of 2,709 volunteer hours, we carried out meaningful projects that touched various segments of society. These efforts have made volunteering an integral part of our corporate culture and have become a key element that sets us apart in social responsibility projects. With our goal of contributing to the society, we carry our understanding of social responsibility further every day with our projects that produce sustainable and permanent solutions.’
