This 8 March, ODAŞ are saying, “We are aware!”

ODAS

As part of International Women’s Day on March 8, ODAŞ has released an awareness video to draw attention to violence against women. The video aims to increase social awareness of violence against women—an issue that persists in every area of life yet often remains insufficiently visible.

Violence against women does not only exist in its physical form; it also persists through words, looks, and expressions embedded in everyday life that are often considered “normal.” These behaviors, which frequently go unnoticed, constitute the invisible face of violence. Taking action to raise awareness on this issue, ODAŞ’s video prepared for International Women’s Day makes examples of verbal and psychological violence encountered in the ordinary flow of life visible.

Throughout the year, ODAŞ also shared a hidden message drawing attention to violence against women in several of its social media videos that reached millions of views. In these videos, an ODAŞ employee delivered the message “No to Violence Against Women” in sign language. Despite the high number of views, this detail was almost never noticed. This striking element powerfully reveals how violence can remain invisible even when it is right before our eyes. The project confronts viewers with the question, “Are we really aware?” and strongly reminds us that violence exists within everyday life.

“We wanted to take a step that would create awareness”

Commenting on the initiative, ODAŞ Corporate Communications Manager Yasemin Aydınlar said:

“Unfortunately, violence against women remains one of the most significant issues in our society. Moreover, beyond physical violence, it continues to exist in many forms—including psychological, economic, and digital violence—across all areas of life. As ODAŞ, we believe this issue must always remain on the agenda. With the video we prepared within this scope, we aimed to make violence visible, increase awareness, and strengthen social consciousness.”
